The action "Georgievsky Ribbon" annualy starts on the eve of the Victory Day and unites millions of people not only in Russia but abroad as well.

In 10 years black and orange ribbons have become the symbol of the memory of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the reminder of the price that was paid to achieve it.

The  history of the campaign began in 2005. That's when at the city streets first volunteers of all ages and social groups appeared, their number was growing each year.

In 9 years the campaign has turned from the city one into international phenomenon - in 2013, 73 countries took part in it, the total number of distributed ribbons has reached 100 million. In Moscow alone last year by the efforts of thousands of volunteers from "Student community" 3 million ribbons were distributed, throughout Russia the number has reached 6 million.

This year the event in Moscow will take place from April 24 to May 9. At 18 points it is planned to distribute some 4 million ribbons and involve more than 1500 volunteers for participation in the action.
Several events will be held within the framework of the campaign.
On April 26, the flashmob "Greet a veteran with the Victory!" will be organized. Hundreds of volunteers will come to the post office to send postcards with the symbols of "Georgievsky Ribbon" to veterans;
On April 27, at Kuznetsky Most street the photo exhibition "Georgievsky Ribbon" will open, photo- and video-action "We remember! We take pride!" will be held. Later volunteers of the public movement "V.N.U.K." will show multimedia congratulations to the veterans staying in military hospitals.

On April 29, more than 200 military and history books with the symbols of the action "Georgievsky Ribbon" will be available at 20 Book-crossing points.

On May 1, graffiti festival "I thank Grandpa for the Victory!" dedicated to the most important battles of the Great Patriotic War will take place in Sokolniki park.

On May 4, the city quest-excursion will be held. The participants will visit the key sites associated with the history of the Battle of Moscow.
On May 5, the film festival “The echelons of memory – the echelons of the Victory!” will start.

This year five cinemas will be screening military and historical films and "Stalingrad" movie free of charge.
For the first time, during the action the concept of recycling Georgievsky ribbons will be implemented. At the base of Moscow Youth multipurpose center the point of ribbons’ collection will open. Later those ribbons will be sent to producers so that to give them the original form.
The organizers of the action "Georgievsky Ribbon" are the Department of Culture of the city of Moscow and the public organization "Student community".
